Eternal Moment:
Beginning
I looked up at the council, who had just sentenced me to exile. I was beaten up, filthy, and I hadn’t eaten for three days.
The head chairmen said something I couldn’t hear and pointed at the door. I looked, and a boy about my age was standing there.
“He shall be your escort out of the country.” The chairmen said to me.
I was led out of the room by one of the guards. He grabbed my long hair, which went halfway down my legs, and pulled so hard that I fell over onto the ground. What had I done? Why wouldn’t anyone tell me?
I regained my stance and kept walking. I wasn’t surprised when rocks were thrown at me once I was outside. My bare feet were covered in dirt and small cuts.
I was taken back to my cell before I left. They let me take a shower, but one of the guards had to watch for security purposes, because there was a large window. He was kind enough to turn the other way while I bathed.
They also gave me some new clothes, as mine were torn all over. The outfit was too big, but I wasn’t aloud to complain. It was a black prisoners dress, and I had to tie it around my waist. It was very itchy, and was made from old, old cloth.
They gave me a small bowl of rice, which I ate in less than a minute.
It was finally time for me to go. The boy was waiting outside the prison for me. He had a horse that was carrying a very large pack.
There was a huge crowd at the city gates. They all threw rocks. None of them missed. The people standing at the top of the city walls pelted me with rotten tomatoes. The boy did nothing. He just kept walking.
We walked for hours before he even turned around. When he finally did, he surprised me by picking me up and putting me on the horse. He got up after me. My hands were tied. He reached his arms around me and grabbed the reins. We started riding.
It was long after nightfall before we stopped. I had fallen asleep, so he took me off the horse and set me on the ground. At least that’s what I can remember.
I was woken up a few hours later, at sunrise, when we continued on our journey. I slept on the horse until we stopped at a town.
He took the horse to a merchant and sold it. He took the pack on his back.
That night he built a fire. We sat there and warmed our hands while we ate our rice. He turned to me and held out his hand.
“My name’s Jeremy.” He said.
I shook his hand. “My name’s Serenity.”
I fell over a large rock in the ground as I was walking toward my mat. My knee was hurt and bleeding. He took out a piece of cloth and tossed it to me. I tied it around my knee.
I fell asleep to the sound of the fire crackling and very quiet music in my memory.

In My Father's Shadow: the story of Miroku and Sango's Daughter
I stood over my small fragile brother, Koki. He was asleep on his tiny futon, his hands clutched as if trying to grab a marble. A little bit of drool slid down his cheek, and I wiped it off with my sleeve. I sat down, wanting to watch him all night.
I felt a hand on my shoulder. I could tell it was father, because I felt the beads. I turned to him and he smiled a little.
"Can't sleep, Kazue?" He said to me as he sat next to me and watched Koki shift in his sleep. I couldn't take my eyes off of my hand, which had the same beads wrapped around it.
"Dad?" I looked up at him, and he was watching Koki. "How come Koki doesn't have a wind tunnel?"
Father looked at me now, and you could tell by the look on his face that this was a serious subject. "Well, I honestly don't know. But be glad that he doesn't. This thing is a curse. It's lucky that the curse subsided with you."
I smiled, but I started to cry. "I hate this thing! It's going to swallow me up someday! How am I, a thirteen year old girl, possibly be happy with this thing in my hand?!" I cried some more. I didn't want to die.
Father hugged me, holding me so that my sobs were muffled by his shoulder.
"Keep in mind," He said. "That I've got it too. It will swallow me up one day, and I can never see you again."
Just then Mother walked in. I was still crying, so she took a bit of her sleeve and started to wipe my face. "it's okay, it's okay..." She kept saying to me. I fell asleep a little after that. I remember them carrying me to my room, and putting the blankets over me. I started to dream. But I never dreamed. I only had nightmares.
I was walking in the fields outside our house with Koki. He was holding my hand and picking flowers. suddenly, my right arm started to feel as if it was splitting in two. I fell on my knees and Koki went down with me. When I looked at my arm, I saw that half of it had disappeared into the wind tunnel. I started screaming as it engulfed my shoulder. My hand was still holding on to Koki. I let go so that he wouldn't be dragged in, too.
My body was fully engulfed in the wind tunnel. everything went dark...
I awoke in a cold sweat. It was morning.
I got dressed and sprinted to start my chores, as I had woken up and hour late. The chickens were restless, as if something was coming that scared them. I got the eggs and hurried back toward the house. When I got inside, I heard a loud BANG and ducked down on the floor without hesitation.
Suddenly, I heard the voices of at eight people. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAZUE!!!!!"
I looked up. There was mom and dad, My uncle, my aunt, and my three cousins. I ran and hugged aunt Kagome. Inuyasha patted me on the back. I had completely forgotten that it was my birthday.
I was swarmed by everyone, even two year old Mitzuki. Kagome handed me a package with strange wrapping on it. I opened it and in it was a brand new kimono along with an outfit that I had never seen before.
"Put on that outfit and come with me," My aunt said to me. I went to my room. It took me a half hour to get dressed, including shoes and socks. I went back to the living room and Kagome grabbed my hand and lead me out of the house. She brought me to the boneater's well.
"Ready for the trip of your life?" Kagome asked me as we stood at the edge of the well. She took hold of my hand and jumped. I felt as if I were floating, and my entire body started to tingle. We landed in the bottom of the well. for some reason there was now a ladder that had never been there before. We climbed up the ladder and entered a small Gazebo.
I had never heard such sounds. I heard the strange mobile things passing by, and I heard the sound of what Kagome called a police car. I saw a house that stood where forest should have been.
Kagome turned to me. "Welcome to my world."

CHAPTER FOUR
"Kish? C'mon, Kish, it's time to get up. Wake up, Kish."
Kish sat up and blinked. Looking down as she got up, she noticed the large black bruise on her leg.
Damn. I was hoping it was just a dream. She touched it ever so gently. It hurt a lot. She stretched and went to the sink to wash her face.
Mirie placed her hand on her shoulder, making her flinch.
"Kish, we just got news from one of the guards. The doctor's coming for our check-ups today."
the doctor was one of the only people the prisoners could trust. He was always giving them any medicine they needed. He was very handsome, with pitch black hair and blue eyes. She didn't know why, but Mirie always acted very strange around him.
"When is he coming?" Kish asked, gulping down some water.
Mirie smiled for no apparent reason. "He'll be here in an hour and a half. You'd better get ready." She rushed off to brush her hair.
Kish sighed and rubbed her eyes. She looked around. Mirie was franticly searching for her hairbrush, and Gylfie was reading a book while something that looked like a brownie (kin of fairy) was sprinkling bits of dust in her hair.
Kish pointed at the brownie. "Gylfie, when did he get here?" She said with a puzzled look on her face.
Gylfie closed her book. "Oh, Nimn? He's been here this whole time, sleeping in my pocket. Nimn, go say hello to Kish." She nugded him off her shoulder and he scurried toward Kish.
He waved at her with hand outstretched. "Hello, Kish!" He yelled. "It's an honer to finally meet you!" For a brownie, he was very small. He only reached just passed her ankle.
She crouched down so that she could hear him without him having to yell. "Nimn, how old are you?"
He held up six fingers. "This many!"
"Hmmmm..." She was sitting on the floor now. "Where is your family?"
"They left me in the woods when I was real little," He said, still smiling. "I remember them saying I was too small."
"Nimn," Kish began after a pause. "Do you think that you can do my hair, to?" She ran her fingers through her hair. It was so greasy. It hadn't been washed in months.
Nimn beamed. "I'd love to! Sure!" He climbed up to her shoulder and started picking at her hair.
Five minutes later, she looked in the mirror. She stared at her hair, shocked at how wavy it was. It had always been weighed down by grease and dirt. The shine was almost overwhelming.
She turned around to thank him, however, he was already busy chanting the cleaning spell while picking at the hair of a smiling Mirie.
I wonder why she acts so strange around him when he comes, she thought.
There was a knock on the door. The doctor was early. Gylfie put Nimn out of site before he saw him.
"Good morning Kish. Good morning, Mirie." Mirie giggled. He saw Gylfie and said, "And who is this?"
"My name is Gylfie."
"Hmm. I see. Your age?"
"Twenty-one."
"Where are you from?"
Kish thought that if he kept asking questions like that, Gylfie would deck him in the face.
However, she was very calm. "I'm from the forest."
"Ah. I see. And your friend?" He said, pointing to Nimn, who was climbing out of Gylfie's pocket.
She blushed. "His name's Nimn. He's six years old. Abandoned when I took him in."
He didn't bother to ask any more questions. "Kish, come over here, I want to see that bruise on your leg.
The next hour was spent doing monthly checkups, bandaging injuries (most of it was spent putting a bandage around Kish's leg), and getting medicine.
"Okay, Kish, rub this salve on your leg every day and your bruise should be gone in a week. Remember to change the bandages."
Mirie was giggleing like a school girl, which Kish could tell was freaking him out.
"Well, I've got to go." He walked out the door. "I'll see you again soon." And with that, the door shut and locked.
Long after they couldn't hear his footsteps, Kish burst into laughter.
"What's so funny?" Mirie asked, annoyed by Kish's sudden outburst.
"I'm sorry, it's just that you act so wierd around him!" Kish Said between laughs. Mirie started laughing, too.
Kish sat up and blinked. Looking down as she got up, she noticed the large black bruise on her leg.

CHAPTER THREE
"Come again?" Mirie said. She had always wanted to be a fairy, to have wings and fly high up in the clouds. After all, it was one of the reasons that she was sentenced to life in prison. She could just imagine having wings, grooming them day after day.
Gylfie went over and put her cloak back on. Just in time, too. For at that moment, the three girls heard the footsteps of the guard bringing them their meals. The girls, all except Kish, went to the door to investigate.
It was Manten. He was struggling to hold two bowls in one hand while balancing his spear and a third bowl on the other. But something was different. He must have lost a bet on a night out with his friends, because he was now bald. The girls fought to hold back their laughs.
He arrived at their door and entered their cell. He looked at Kish and Mirie. "Have you been smuggling items into the dungeon? Your hair is brushed, and her wings are clean. I want answers now." He said.
Kish said something before Mirie did. "Here's your answer." She started in a rude tone. "We've been using our fingers to comb our hair, and I've been using my fingernails to chip off dirt from my wings. Is that a good enough answer for you?"
This infuriated Manten. He rushed over to Kish. Anyone could see that he was at least two feet taller than her.
Oh no, she's in trouble again, Mirie thought.
Suddenly, Manten grabbed Kish's hair and lifted her off of the ground until she was almost higher than he was. Her eyes were shut as tight as they could be, as if it could take away some of the pain.
"Now listen, you,” Mirie could smell whiskey on his breath. "If the king would just let me have my way, I would kill you right here." he let go and she hit the ground with a huge *thud*. He went to the door and turned back halfway through. "And by the way, thanks to your new friend, your rations have been cut down by half." He slammed the door and left.
Mirie rushed over to Kish and tried to help her get up, but Kish just slapped her hand away.
"I'm fine," She said, although she had a huge bruise on her leg. "You guys can have my rations for today." She winced as she got up. She slowly limped toward her bed and pulled the cover over her head.
The two girls sat in silence for the rest of the day, moving only to go to a different spot, or to use the toilet.
That night, the two girls were talking to each other as they were lying in their cots.
“Mirie,” Gylfie started. “Has Kish always been this way?”
“Actually, yes. You see… she tries to act all tough, but she’s actually really dependent on others. She actually gets sick a lot, sometimes to the point that she can’t get out of bed.” Mirie answered.
“Wow. Sorry. Anyway, let’s get some sleep.” She turned around and pulled the blanket over her.
“Gylfie?”
She turned back to Mirie, who was just settling down in her cot. “About being a fairy,” She said. “My answer is yes.”

CHAPTER TWO
"What did you just say?" Both Kish and Mirie said to Gylfie, eyes wide open and Jaws dropped.
Kish felt both relieved and shocked. Relived because she knew that Gylfie would understand, and would likely help them in their plan to escape. Shocked because she had no idea why the Guards didn't kill Gylfie on the spot.
"you heard me," Gylfie said, annoyed by the girls' staring. "The guards didn't kill me because my cloak is hiding my wings." She untied the tie on the cloak and it fluttered to the ground, unveiling emerald green wings. She looked at hers, then at Kish's "It looks like you're not able to groom yours."
"Well of course I can't! These people refuse to give us even a hairbrush! We aren't able to bathe in days, even weeks at a time!" Kish said, startling Gylfie a little.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. Anyway, let me tell you why I'm here." She sighed, then took a deep breath. "You see, you're very important to us."
"What's so important about me?" Kish said with an annoyed tone.
"Well, for one thing, you're the only heir to the throne."
Kish's jaw fell to the floor. She staggered back, then fell over on her cott. She closed her eyes to keep from vomiting. "Did you just say 'Heir to the throne'?"
"Yes, you're the King's daughter." Gylfie said with another sigh.
Mirie stopped being silent. "you mean to say that this girl- this fifteen year old half fairy- is the heir to the kingdom of fairies?"
"YES!!!!" Gylfie said, annoyed from repeating herself over again. "She's the princess. And as long as she's a princess, she's going to need to be well groomed." Gylfie reached into her cloak, which had many pockets, and pulled out a vile of swirling blue liquid.
Both Kish and Mirie tilted their heads. "What's that?" they said in unision.
"It's a grooming product. you rub it on your wings and it'll get anything off." Gylfie rushed over to Kish and gently grabbed one of her wings, pouring some of the swirling liquid on her wings. "Mirie, there's two Brushes in my cloak. You two can work on your hair."
The Girls grabbed their brushes and got to work combing their hair. Gylfie listened to the sound of tangles being broken while vigorously rubbing the liquid over her wings. She watched as the dirt peeled away like paint to reveal a color combination like no other she had seen. Beautiful shades of gold and blue, green, and a silver that seemed to trickle down her wings like drops of water.
About an hour later, Gylfie stood back to admire the work. Their hair was pretty greasy, but other than that they looked okay. She turned her gaze to Kish's wings. She was very proud of the things that she had made beautiful.
Both Girls bowed their heads "Thank you." They said, smiling their ecstatic faces at Gylfie.
"You are ever so welcome," Gylfie said. "And I'm open to whatever plans of escape you have."
"Oh! Thanks for reminding me," Kish said, remembering her plan. "Do you think you could help me carry Mirie?"
"Carry? I have a much better idea." She went back to her cloak and pulled out another vile, only this time it was filled with a dust. It had a pitcure of a bird on it. "Mirie, how would you like to be a full-fledged fairy?"

Poster Paragraphs
These are some paragraphs for a project in school. Enjoy!!! ^-^
Cherokee weaponry is still a popular subject today. The Cherokee people would use axes, clubs, and even daggers. They would also put nails, metal spikes, or even animal teeth on the ends of their clubs. When a boy reaches the age of ten, he is taught how to make blowguns and shot darts. They were also taught how to make poison for the ends of their darts.
The Cherokee made many war treaties. In 1785, they made a peace treaty with the U.S. However, the treaty failed. The Cherokee went to war with the U.S until there was anther treaty made in 1791. The treaty enabled the U.S to take the Cherokee’s land. They used it to dig for gold, and to give their people a place to settle.
We know very little about what happened after Cherokee battles. What we do know is that after battles, a huge sacking took place. They took all of the villages gold, silver, furs, and skins, ect. A horse was a prized possession, and they enjoyed stealing them because it was reckless and took athletic skill. They would also take the scalps of the dead, and would later set the village on fire.
The most widely known Cherokee war is the war with the Anglo. It is also known as “War with those in the red coats”. It was the French verses Indian war that was caused by each party repeatedly suspecting the other of betrayal. The British sought assistance from the Cherokee after tensions increased in the 1750’s. They did agree to help, but the French had to build forts around their villages to protect them from whom they were fighting.
Many facts are floating around about Cherokee wars. The Cherokee had war chiefs and peace chiefs. They had a war with the Creeks in Tali’wa once. Before leaving for battle, the tribes would hold a ceremony for the warriors. During a few ceremonies, the Iroquois and the Chickasaw tribes attacked them. Usually, if their tribe had won the battle, there was a large feast waiting for them.

CHAPTER ONE
For as long as she could remember, Kish was an outcast. She was always teased and hated by the Pixies. That was why she wanted to live with the Fairies so badly. Being half fairy and they would accept her.
But also being half Pixie, there was a chance they would not. Pixies have always hated Fairies, but the Fairies wanted to make peace with the Pixies.
Around fifteen years ago, peace was made between two individuals. A Pixie woman and a Fairy man eloped into the Fairy woods and lived there until Kish was born. But when her mother took her home, she was punished by death. But for some unknown reason, they didn’t kill her daughter. Her father was said to have disappeared days after the death of the love of his life.
^-^
One day in the dungeon, Kish had another idea of how to escape the place that was so cruel to them.
“ Right, Kish, like that would get us out of here. Remember what happened last time? That dart could have killed you! And besides, why try it anyway? You know they’re just going to kill us in a few months.” Mirie said sarcastically.
“ Because, Mirie, we’ve still got a few months to try. If we get out this time, I promise you that we’ll get to the forest in time.”
“It just doesn’t seem right.”
“C’mon, it’ll work.”
“LUNCH!!”
The girls looked up. Standing at the door was Manten, the chief guard, and the rudest person Kish had ever known. He set the two bowls of goop down, and the girls slowly crept toward the food and quickly snatched it away before he could change his mind and take it away.
As they were eating lunch, Kish was going over her plans of escape in her mind. She was going to use one of the oldest tricks ever; using her fire power to cut through the bars on the window, then flying above the clouds to the woods. When she would get there, she would be in the kingdom of the fairies where no pixie could get to her.
The last time she escaped, it took her three weeks to get to the forest. If Mirie would come, that would make it an even four weeks. She had everything planned out. She just had to get Mirie to come with her.
^-^
That night, Kish gently tried to nudge her friend awake.
“mmmm… what?” Mirie mumbled, still half asleep.
“Mirie, I’m going to leave in three days. Please, I’m begging you to come with me.”
“Ugh. If I go with you, will you promise not to pester me ever again?”
Kish was relieved. Her best friend was going with her to the only place that they would ever be safe.
She quickly charted out her plans for escape. She thought she had everything planned out, but then Mirie asked a question that would make this plan need more thinking.
“It’s a great plan, but in case you haven’t noticed, I can’t fly. How will I get there?”
Kish thought for a moment. Then she had an idea.
“I’ll carry you.” She said with a serious look on her face.
“Are you sure?”
“Positive.”
“Okay, then it’s all set. We leave in three days,” Mirie said with a yawn.“We’ll need a lot of rest. Go to sleep now.”
“Fine, but tomorrow I have more ideas for our plan.” Kish said as she was pulling the blanket over herself.
“GOODNIGHT.” Mirie said, a little annoyed. She pulled the blanket over her head, and within minutes, Kish could hear the muffled snoring of her friend.
Before Kish fell asleep, though, she thought. She thought about how she had been locked in that dungeon for most of her life, and how she would be free soon.
Free. What a complicated word. For others, freedom didn't mean much. But for a person who had never even been to a store in their life, freedom meant so much more. It meant a warm place to stay, food that was actually worth eating, and being able to breathe clean, fresh air. Soon, she found herself drifting off to sleep.
^-^
The next morning, The two girls awoke to something quite alarming. The guards were shoving a girl into the cell. She was wearing a purple velvet cloak, and was muttering curses as they locked the door. She turned around to Kish and Mirie and flinched.
"Terribly sorry you had to hear that," She said while doing a curtsey with her cloak."My name's Gylfie. And you are?"
^-^
As the two girls stared at their new cellmate, all Kish could think was that she would have to reveal her plan to her and make a lot of changes in the next three days.
"And your names are?" The girl named Gylfie said in an almost annoying tone.
"Well, my name is Mirie and this is my half fairy friend, Kish." Mirie piped out.
Suddenly surprise overtook Gylfie's eyes. "Did you just say 'half fairy'?" She said, looking at Kish.
"Yeah, whats it to you?" Kish said, annoyed by the girl already.
"Oh, jeez," Gylfie said, looking at Kish as if kish was superior to her in every way. She intied the tie on her cloak and it flutterd to the floor thus unveiling two light green wings. "I'm a full fairy."

PROLOGUE
As Kish was sprinting toward the woods, she quickly glanced behind her shoulder. The townfolk were gaining, and it didn't look as if they would spare her mercy.
She knew what she had to do. She removed her cloak and thrust it to the ground, thus unveiling her wings and pixie ears. Quickly as she could, she flew up into the air and threw fireballs at the vicious crowd. She hated to do it, but she had to.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her side. She looked. A dart was sticking out of her waist. Her body felt weak. Her vision blurred. She felt herself falling. She lost consiousnes when she hit the ground.
When she came to, she found herself back in the dungeon with her usual cellmate, Mirie.
"Welcome back, friend!" She blurted out.
Without hesitation, Kish pulled the paper thin blanket over her head and turned over. She then fell asleep, wondering if she would ever be able to leave the horrible place that was the Pixies' city.

EXTINCT
We are alone.
Our people are being killed.
Little by little, our species are perishing.
What are we?
We are the African wild dogs.
And soon, we will be extinct.
Civilization is tearing away at our home,
Forcing our prey to leave and go to different places.
We are the African wild dogs.
And soon, we will be extinct.
Our people are being killed.
Little by little, our species are perishing.

And soon, we will be extinct.

We are the African wild dogs.
And soon, we will be extinct.

HOME
A girl walks down a dark hallway.
Looking for her place, not finding the way.
Where does she belong?
She sighs, wondering.
When will she get there?
She is overcome with fear.
Will she ever get there?
She collapses, crying.
Tears streaming down her cheeks,
A door opens.
She recognizes the voice.
"This is where you belong." The loving voice says.
She gets up and walks in.
A bright light, and feelings of warmth surround her.
She knows where she is.
She is home.
Looking for her place, not finding the way.
Where does she belong?
She sighs, wondering.
When will she get there?
She is overcome with fear.
Will she ever get there?
She collapses, crying.
Tears streaming down her cheeks,

She knows where she is.
She is home.
