CHAPTER TWO

"What did you just say?" Both Kish and Mirie said to Gylfie, eyes wide open and Jaws dropped.

Kish felt both relieved and shocked. Relived because she knew that Gylfie would understand, and would likely help them in their plan to escape. Shocked because she had no idea why the Guards didn't kill Gylfie on the spot.

"you heard me," Gylfie said, annoyed by the girls' staring. "The guards didn't kill me because my cloak is hiding my wings." She untied the tie on the cloak and it fluttered to the ground, unveiling emerald green wings. She looked at hers, then at Kish's "It looks like you're not able to groom yours."

"Well of course I can't! These people refuse to give us even a hairbrush! We aren't able to bathe in days, even weeks at a time!" Kish said, startling Gylfie a little.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. Anyway, let me tell you why I'm here." She sighed, then took a deep breath. "You see, you're very important to us."

"What's so important about me?" Kish said with an annoyed tone.

"Well, for one thing, you're the only heir to the throne."

Kish's jaw fell to the floor. She staggered back, then fell over on her cott. She closed her eyes to keep from vomiting. "Did you just say 'Heir to the throne'?"
"Yes, you're the King's daughter." Gylfie said with another sigh.

Mirie stopped being silent. "you mean to say that this girl- this fifteen year old half fairy- is the heir to the kingdom of fairies?"

"YES!!!!" Gylfie said, annoyed from repeating herself over again. "She's the princess. And as long as she's a princess, she's going to need to be well groomed." Gylfie reached into her cloak, which had many pockets, and pulled out a vile of swirling blue liquid.

Both Kish and Mirie tilted their heads. "What's that?" they said in unision.

"It's a grooming product. you rub it on your wings and it'll get anything off." Gylfie rushed over to Kish and gently grabbed one of her wings, pouring some of the swirling liquid on her wings. "Mirie, there's two Brushes in my cloak. You two can work on your hair."

The Girls grabbed their brushes and got to work combing their hair. Gylfie listened to the sound of tangles being broken while vigorously rubbing the liquid over her wings. She watched as the dirt peeled away like paint to reveal a color combination like no other she had seen. Beautiful shades of gold and blue, green, and a silver that seemed to trickle down her wings like drops of water.

About an hour later, Gylfie stood back to admire the work. Their hair was pretty greasy, but other than that they looked okay. She turned her gaze to Kish's wings. She was very proud of the things that she had made beautiful.

Both Girls bowed their heads "Thank you." They said, smiling their ecstatic faces at Gylfie.

"You are ever so welcome," Gylfie said. "And I'm open to whatever plans of escape you have."

"Oh! Thanks for reminding me," Kish said, remembering her plan. "Do you think you could help me carry Mirie?"

"Carry? I have a much better idea." She went back to her cloak and pulled out another vile, only this time it was filled with a dust. It had a pitcure of a bird on it. "Mirie, how would you like to be a full-fledged fairy?"
