Eternal Moment: Begining

Eternal Moment:
Beginning

I looked up at the council, who had just sentenced me to exile. I was beaten up, filthy, and I hadn’t eaten for three days.

The head chairmen said something I couldn’t hear and pointed at the door. I looked, and a boy about my age was standing there.

“He shall be your escort out of the country.” The chairmen said to me.

I was led out of the room by one of the guards. He grabbed my long hair, which went halfway down my legs, and pulled so hard that I fell over onto the ground. What had I done? Why wouldn’t anyone tell me?

I regained my stance and kept walking. I wasn’t surprised when rocks were thrown at me once I was outside. My bare feet were covered in dirt and small cuts.

I was taken back to my cell before I left. They let me take a shower, but one of the guards had to watch for security purposes, because there was a large window. He was kind enough to turn the other way while I bathed.

They also gave me some new clothes, as mine were torn all over. The outfit was too big, but I wasn’t aloud to complain. It was a black prisoners dress, and I had to tie it around my waist. It was very itchy, and was made from old, old cloth.

They gave me a small bowl of rice, which I ate in less than a minute.

It was finally time for me to go. The boy was waiting outside the prison for me. He had a horse that was carrying a very large pack.

There was a huge crowd at the city gates. They all threw rocks. None of them missed. The people standing at the top of the city walls pelted me with rotten tomatoes. The boy did nothing. He just kept walking.

We walked for hours before he even turned around. When he finally did, he surprised me by picking me up and putting me on the horse. He got up after me. My hands were tied. He reached his arms around me and grabbed the reins. We started riding.

It was long after nightfall before we stopped. I had fallen asleep, so he took me off the horse and set me on the ground. At least that’s what I can remember.

I was woken up a few hours later, at sunrise, when we continued on our journey. I slept on the horse until we stopped at a town.

He took the horse to a merchant and sold it. He took the pack on his back.

That night he built a fire. We sat there and warmed our hands while we ate our rice. He turned to me and held out his hand.

“My name’s Jeremy.” He said.

I shook his hand. “My name’s Serenity.”

I fell over a large rock in the ground as I was walking toward my mat. My knee was hurt and bleeding. He took out a piece of cloth and tossed it to me. I tied it around my knee.

I fell asleep to the sound of the fire crackling and very quiet music in my memory.

In My Father's Shadow: the story of Miroku and Sango's Daughter

I stood over my small fragile brother, Koki. He was asleep on his tiny futon, his hands clutched as if trying to grab a marble. A little bit of drool slid down his cheek, and I wiped it off with my sleeve. I sat down, wanting to watch him all night.

I felt a hand on my shoulder. I could tell it was father, because I felt the beads. I turned to him and he smiled a little.

"Can't sleep, Kazue?" He said to me as he sat next to me and watched Koki shift in his sleep. I couldn't take my eyes off of my hand, which had the same beads wrapped around it.

"Dad?" I looked up at him, and he was watching Koki. "How come Koki doesn't have a wind tunnel?"

Father looked at me now, and you could tell by the look on his face that this was a serious subject. "Well, I honestly don't know. But be glad that he doesn't. This thing is a curse. It's lucky that the curse subsided with you."

I smiled, but I started to cry. "I hate this thing! It's going to swallow me up someday! How am I, a thirteen year old girl, possibly be happy with this thing in my hand?!" I cried some more. I didn't want to die.

Father hugged me, holding me so that my sobs were muffled by his shoulder.

"Keep in mind," He said. "That I've got it too. It will swallow me up one day, and I can never see you again."

Just then Mother walked in. I was still crying, so she took a bit of her sleeve and started to wipe my face. "it's okay, it's okay..." She kept saying to me. I fell asleep a little after that. I remember them carrying me to my room, and putting the blankets over me. I started to dream. But I never dreamed. I only had nightmares.

I was walking in the fields outside our house with Koki. He was holding my hand and picking flowers. suddenly, my right arm started to feel as if it was splitting in two. I fell on my knees and Koki went down with me. When I looked at my arm, I saw that half of it had disappeared into the wind tunnel. I started screaming as it engulfed my shoulder. My hand was still holding on to Koki. I let go so that he wouldn't be dragged in, too.

My body was fully engulfed in the wind tunnel. everything went dark...

I awoke in a cold sweat. It was morning.

I got dressed and sprinted to start my chores, as I had woken up and hour late. The chickens were restless, as if something was coming that scared them. I got the eggs and hurried back toward the house. When I got inside, I heard a loud BANG and ducked down on the floor without hesitation.

Suddenly, I heard the voices of at eight people. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAZUE!!!!!"

I looked up. There was mom and dad, My uncle, my aunt, and my three cousins. I ran and hugged aunt Kagome. Inuyasha patted me on the back. I had completely forgotten that it was my birthday.

I was swarmed by everyone, even two year old Mitzuki. Kagome handed me a package with strange wrapping on it. I opened it and in it was a brand new kimono along with an outfit that I had never seen before.

"Put on that outfit and come with me," My aunt said to me. I went to my room. It took me a half hour to get dressed, including shoes and socks. I went back to the living room and Kagome grabbed my hand and lead me out of the house. She brought me to the boneater's well.

"Ready for the trip of your life?" Kagome asked me as we stood at the edge of the well. She took hold of my hand and jumped. I felt as if I were floating, and my entire body started to tingle. We landed in the bottom of the well. for some reason there was now a ladder that had never been there before. We climbed up the ladder and entered a small Gazebo.

I had never heard such sounds. I heard the strange mobile things passing by, and I heard the sound of what Kagome called a police car. I saw a house that stood where forest should have been.

Kagome turned to me. "Welcome to my world."
